To understand what Digital Marketing is all about now, let’s talk about what is called Content Marketing.

BRAND IS KING:

There are a number of highly respected branding experts who will say there is no such thing as “marketing” now; it’s all about branding.

They are in essence correct, because the entire process of marketing now centers around establishing a brand: something people will remember, want, and buy. If you’re doing that, and making yourself stand out from the crowd, you are marketing.

CONTENT MARKETING:

The best way to do this in our digital world, is by providing value BEFORE someone buys from you. It’s not just, “Hey, look at me, here I am, buy me!”. If you entertain, educate, give value, and make someone a friend or admirer first, chances are immensely greater that they will buy from you instead of or before someone else.

So you create and give away content for free. How?

Social Media Posting
Infographics
SlideShares
White Papers
How-To Guides
Radio and TV interviews
Speaking for free

TIME OR MONEY OR BOTH:

Many of these things can be created without a big budget, albeit with a lot of dedication, practice and time spent. But if you want to grow your business, your readership, your following, or your name, you must spend either the time or the money, and most likely both. It just depends upon your circumstances where the balance lies.
